So my reviewing schedule is pretty tight for the rest of the year and while I’ll be sure to post reviews for movies you all will probably see (Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts, etc…), I think it’s important to throw some love at a lesser known film that many of you might miss. So for the 5 of you that read these, here is a write up of a fantastic film that just came out; Edge of Seventeen.
Story: Movie follows an awkward 17 year old who is dealing with not fitting in, having her best friend abandon her and date her brother, and just life in general as a high schooler. It’s a simple story but hits pretty close to home. Despite the cliches, there is no doubt that you will feel the feels during this one. Score: 9
Acting: Hailee Steinfeld is the star here and for great reasons. Her performance hits the nail right on the head. Woody Harrelson plays a small role but is nothing short of perfect in his scenes. The rest of the cast is pretty forgettable though. Score: 9
Presentation: There is nothing special here in the looks department. The soundtrack is great though. Silent when necessary and the music always fits what’s on screen. Score: 7
Effect: Like I said, this movie will hit you right in the feels department. Whether it’s the awkward teenager running solo at a crowded party or someone who feels like nothing is going or can go right. You will be able to relate to something in this film. Score: 10
Other: This movie isn’t perfect but it’s damn good. It’s worth the watch. Score: 8
Wrap up: This is the first movie in a while where I thought I was going to cry. Not a bad cry but a good cry. I think that says it all. This is pure catharsis in a sea of movies with no real impact.
Score: 8.6
I think I’m going to love this one.
Is there any Oscar buzz, have you heard?

I’m not quite sure to be honest. It is doing very well with critics. Or so I’ve read at least. I hope it gets some Oscar love. It totally deserves it!
